NEW UNIVERSAL CARE ENVIRONMENTS PROTOTYPE TO BE UNVEILED AT 2010 HEALTHCARE FACILITIES SYMPOSIUM & EXPO

Organizers Set to Begin Model Development, Will Showcase Key Learnings from 2009 Expo at Next Year's Conference in Chicago

TRUMBULL, CT - (November 16, 2009) - On September 30th, design and manufacturing professionals met in Chicago at the 2009 Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo for a series of workshops exploring the potential of deep collaboration to improve healthcare environments through standardization.  This type of strategic planning provides unlimited potential and the ability to quite literally transform care delivery.

The transformational objectives of this project were to fundamentally change the operational care platform for patients, essentially decoupling the bed from the headboard and developing a standardized "kit of parts" for building patient environments.  Implementation of these concepts promises several benefits, one of which is minimizing technology within the architectural shell by integrating equipment solutions in self-sufficient platforms that are able to be upgraded quickly and inexpensively.  This innovative standardization also promotes flexible environments that are quicker to deliver, easily adaptable with changing technology and provide universal healthcare operations that eliminate patient handoffs where multiple touch points lead to accidents and diminished effective outcomes.

The team of companies who participated in the workshops met again in November to take their findings to the next level.  The result is a new prototype for a universal care environment that will be unveiled at next year's Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo taking place September 14-15, 2010 in Chicago.  David Chambers, Director of Planning Architecture & Design, Sutter Health and Clay Goser, President, Symphony LLC will facilitate the discussions and efforts of industry leaders to produce this dynamic innovation.

"Imagine, healthcare distributed where patients need it, in facilities that can change when needs change and possess technologies that can leverage our most precious resource: providers," said Chambers.  "The ability to make state-of-the-art healthcare available for all is now something we can make happen!"

For details on participating in the prototype build-out, "Universal Care Environments - Building for Tomorrow, Today," please contact Nancy Jo Hauck at 203-371-6322, x213 or nj@jdevents.com.  Participants in this program will be part of an innovative and universal room while promoting their products and services.  Additional information about Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo is available at: http://www.hcarefacilities.com/.
